How it will happen in the wilderness
Tempo
Jesus’ rhythm of labor and retreat
models a vital principle for us today,
that the right starting place for
ministering to others is rest, not busyness.
Trials
Trials have a purpose, the wilderness is a special place for testing and
establishing character. Trials expose
unbelief and promote real belief.
Timing and Terrain
Modeling Jesus’ practice of teaching
his disciples truths within a wilderness
environment at the right time and
place. (Matthew 8:23-27; Mark
4:35-41)
Trust
Jesus’ identity and his people’s
identities were established on the
basis of unconditional trust in God
the Father. Just because there may
be a perceived risk in following
God, there is actually no actual risk
in following him
Training
Using intense decision-making
scenarios to draw out leaders in a group
